Our Story

A Journey of Faith, Hope and Giving Back

From a Child in Need to a Lifelong Mission of Hope

The story of Streetheroes Uganda begins with a young girl who once sat in a classroom wondering whether her education would come to an end.

In 2001, I faced one of the most difficult moments of my life. My family could not afford my school fees, and I was on the verge of dropping out of school. Like many vulnerable children in Uganda today, I feared that my dreams would never become a reality.
Then something remarkable happened.

A kind man from World Vision saw my struggle and paid half of my school fees. To many people, it may have seemed like a small act of kindness, but to me it was life-changing. That support gave me the opportunity to continue my education and eventually complete my Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) in 2003.

That single act of generosity planted a seed in my heart.
I made a promise to God that day:

"If You ever give me the opportunity to help others the way I have been helped, I will dedicate my life to serving them."

With determination and faith, I continued my education and successfully completed my Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Although I dreamed of joining university, financial challenges made it impossible at the time.
But God was not finished writing my story.

I later enrolled at Yesu Akwagala Bible College, where I pursued a Diploma in Theology. During that season, another generous friend, Dave Easterly, paid my tuition fees. Once again, I experienced the life-changing power of someone believing in me and investing in my future.
Every person who helped me became part of the purpose God was shaping for my life.
After graduating from Bible College, I joined King's School as a Music and Art Teacher. Working with children quickly became one of my greatest joys. I loved leading them in worship, teaching them music and art, and watching them discover their talents and grow in confidence. Their happiness and eagerness to learn inspired me every day.

During weekends, I also taught children and young people practical craft skills. Through training from Kwetu Africa Seguku Art School, we learned creative artwork and handicrafts that could provide future opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Although I loved teaching and ministering to children, I felt God calling me to continue learning so I could serve them even better. In 2017, I joined Kampala University, where I earned a Certificate in Early Childhood Education. This training equipped me with professional knowledge of child development, early learning, classroom management, and child care.

Today, I am a qualified preschool teacher with experience in nurturing young children and creating safe, supportive learning environments. I also have the knowledge and skills to care for and support children with disabilities, ensuring they are treated with love, dignity, patience, and given equal opportunities to learn and thrive. These experiences have strengthened my belief that every child is unique, valuable, and created with purpose, regardless of their background or abilities.
Alongside teaching, I continue to follow the calling God has placed on my life. I am a young gospel singer, and I discovered this gift while serving at King's School. My passion for worship led me to record three gospel songs, and I taught these songs to the children, helping them use music as a way to praise God and build confidence.
One of the most memorable moments in my journey came when we welcomed visitors from the United Kingdom, including Steve Carroll and his team. They were deeply touched by the children's worship, their beautiful voices, and the confidence they displayed. They encouraged me by saying that one day they would love to invite me to the United Kingdom to see how children are nurtured there, because they had witnessed my ability to train and inspire young children through music. Their words gave me hope and strengthened my desire to use music as a tool to transform lives.
I continue to pray that, in God's perfect timing, this opportunity will become a reality and that I will one day minister to and learn from children in the United Kingdom while sharing the love of Christ through music.
As I worked with children, youth, and families, I met many who were facing the same struggles I had experienced growing up—lack of school fees, poverty, limited opportunities, and uncertainty about the future.
Their stories reminded me of my own.

I love preaching the Gospel to children, youth, and elders because I believe every person deserves to know God's love. But I also realized that preaching alone is not enough. People also need practical support—education, skills, employment opportunities, mentorship, and hope.
That conviction gave birth to Streetheroes Uganda.
What began as a promise made by a struggling schoolgirl has grown into a mission dedicated to restoring hope, empowering communities, and transforming lives. Today, Streetheroes Uganda supports vulnerable children, equips youth with vocational and entrepreneurial skills, assists widows and elderly people, and promotes sustainable livelihood projects such as flax growing and natural hair oil production.
Every child we support reminds me of the little girl who once worried she would never finish school.
Every young person we train reminds me that opportunity can change a life.
Every act of kindness we receive reminds me of the people God placed in my own journey.

My dream is to bring together compassionate individuals, churches, organizations, businesses, and friends from around the world so that vulnerable children, youth, widows, and elders can access the opportunities they deserve and build brighter futures.
The kindness of one person changed my life. Today, through Streetheroes Uganda, I pray that same kindness will transform the lives of many more.
